Hike at Palmer Lake Reservoirs
Section titled “Hike at Palmer Lake Reservoirs”We will be at Palmer Lake Reservoirs 1 and 2. This trail runs along a canyon into the Rampart Range from the SW side of the town of Palmer Lake. Free parking is no longer available at this hike, So we will meet at the Monument Safeway (624 Hwy 105 in Monument) and carpool to the site. Look for my red Mazda. This is an out-and-back trail, it’s about 1.7 miles to the west end of the trail, and then a 1.7 return. While there is some steepness to the part of the way, the trail is mostly wide and graveled without rocks or obstacles. The lakes are very pretty in their forested setting. Take Cheyenne Boulevard southwest a few blocks past Cresta, toward Cheyenne Canõn until Ridgeway, turn right, and in one block you will see the trailhead parking lot, which has 34 parking slots. This is a popular loop on the southside, passing at least one reservoir, is about 4 miles in length with good views of the city and the Cheyenne Mountain area. Dogs on-leash are ok.
