Hike at Blodgett Open Space 9:00 AM

Blodgett Peak Open Space
3786 W Woodmen Rd, Colorado Springs

Let's plan to meet at the NORTH parking lot -- 3786 West Woodmen Road

We’ll do a loop starting on the Red Squirrel Trail, then hike the Gamble Oak and Douglas Fir trails up to the edge of the Waldo Canyon burn, then we'll head back down the Hummingbird Trail and return via the Peregrine Trail.

The beginning of this trail is rather steep, so it’s a good cardio hike, but this won't involve climbing on all fours or rock scrambling. We will definitely stop for breathers. Total distance is about 2 1/2 - 3 miles with a 600-700 feet vertical climb in elevation.

The hike is well forested with excellent city views. While the parking lot is small, there is plenty of on-street parking. There is a pit toilet at the parking lot.

Remember to bring plenty of water and something to snack on, hiking poles and boots and wear layered clothing as the temperatures are expected to start out cool with a high of 65 degrees. Most importantly, bring an appetite for adventure!

Text Phil, if you have questions and/or are interested in carpooling.

PICKLEBALL AT PORTAL PARK!!

Portal Park
3535 N Hancock Ave, Colorado Springs

Join us at Portal Park for Pickleball!

Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis. The game is played on a smaller tennis court and has been referred to as "mini-tennis".

Two or four players use solid paddles to hit a perforated polymer ball (a little larger than a whiffle ball) over a net. Pickleball games can be played at any and all energy levels (slow and comfortable, mid-energy level and/or fast paced). The popularity of this sport continues to inspire all age groups and it's a great way to get out, exercise, enjoy the fall weather and fellowship!

Wear comfortable clothes, tennis shoes and possibly a hat. We'll provide the paddles and balls - you bring your CHAIR, WATER, energy, enthusiasm!! We have enough paddles for eight people to play at once (which is typically 2 courts).

Please RSVP here on Meet-Up. or with Cathy to let her know how many to anticipate.

And if the weather forecast predicts rain, snow, or extreme cold temperatures, please call or text Cathy to see if we'll be playing.

See you on the court!
