Come play Pickleball with us! We have enough paddles and balls for eight people. New location and time. Hike at Upper Palmer Reservoirs

This hike features two small but pretty lakes surrounded by big trees tucked in the narrow Monument Creek Canyon on the western edge the Town of Palmer Lake. An “out-and-back” hike of a total of 3 1/2-4 miles, it is a very wide gravel Forest Service and utilities road, with a fairly steep incline, but no rock scrambling, we’ll take multiple breaks on the way up. We’ll meet to carpool at 8 am at the ***Monument*** Safeway at 624 Hwy 105. Please bring water, a snack, and good hiking footwear. Text Phil 719-359-1603 with any questions.

Trip to Colorado Springs Astronomical Society Star Party

**Colorado Springs Astronomical Society Star Party** at Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. I attended this a few years ago, and it was awesome, an interesting dark-sky astronomy program, many members of the organization bring their impressive telescopes. When I was there, I could see the rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter, the Perseid Meteor Shower and craters on the moon that seemed like dinner plates, and for a bonus, the ISS (International Space Station) racing across the sky. Dress warm, It will be midnight before we return. It is part of the National Park system, so There will be a $10 fee to enter. We’ll meet at the Safeway at 3275 West Colorado at 7:15 in order to get to the venue on time. We will leave promptly, as they will not let us enter once it is dark. Bring water and a snack. Hike at Rainbow Gulch

This short and moderate hike runs gently downhill through the forest, then comes along-side a babbling creek, we follow it down to where it enters Rampart Range Reservoir, where we will go for a short way along the shore, then returning back up to where we started. It’s only about 3 miles total. Please bring water, good footwear, and a snack. We’ll meet at the Safeway at 3275 West Colorado we may stop in Woodland Park, as there are no toilet facilities. Hike at Ptarmigan Lake

**Yes, Seven-Thirty!) am.** This is a high-country out-and-back hike in the Collegiate Range of about 6.5-7 miles, west of Buena Vista, and 4 miles before Cottonwood Pass. Lovely forest gives way above treeline to a creek where people like to hang their hammocks, then passing a few ponds above 12,000 feet and then Ptarmigan Lake set in a big grassy bowl with great views of 14er Mount Yale. This will be an ALL-DAY excursion, so be prepared, bring enough water, a snack, a lunch, good footwear, we’ll find a good spot in Buena Vista afterward for a bite. Meet at the parking lots at the entrance to North Cheyenne Canõn, a bit to the left (east) of the Nature Center located at the entrance to North Cheyenne Canõn. Look for my white Jeep Cherokee or the footbridge between 2 parking lots. We will hike upstream along North Cheyenne Creek, then ascend the Mountain Cutler trail for good views and a chance to look down from above into the Seven Falls tourist site, then retrace our steps. Lemonade and Water provided as well as plates, and plastic ware. We will have the grill going. Please bring your meat item and a dish to share with others.
