Hike / Potential Snow Shoe Trek at Black Forest Regional Park

Online event
,

Black Forest Regional Park is located in Black Forest and is a regional park in El Paso County.

https://www.blackforesttrails.org/black-forest-regional-park.html

Address is 4800 Shoup Road, Colorado Springs, CO

Let's meet at the regional park itself at 10:00 am where there are pavilions, a soccer field, a children's playground and bathrooms, located near the corner of Shoup Road and Milam Road. Take the second entrance as you turn north on Milam Road - this is a paved parking lot. (The first entrance is a gravel parking lot.)

As our weather has turned cold and wintry, for those of you who have Trax or a similar item that provides traction for your hiking boots in snowy or icy conditions, make sure you bring them. Trax fastens over the sole of your hiking boots. Please bring your hiking poles too - preferably with the snow tips. I have a few extra Trax and extra hiking poles in case they are needed. Dress in layers and be sure to bring a warm hat, a scarf and gloves.

This is an easy hiking trek - as little as 2.5 miles or as much as 4 miles. Please bear in mind that hiking in snowy and/or icy conditions can be a physical challenge. Come prepared for a workout. However, there is little to no elevation gain and the trails are wide. Bring plenty of water or something warm to drink and something to snack on.

In the case of an abundance of snow, we may opt to snow shoe. Check back periodically on Meet-Up as I'll provide updates depending on the weather.

PICKLEBALL AT PORTAL PARK!!

Portal Park
3535 N Hancock Ave, Colorado Springs

Join us at Portal Park for Pickleball!

Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis. The game is played on a smaller tennis court and has been referred to as "mini-tennis".

Two or four players use solid paddles to hit a perforated polymer ball (a little larger than a whiffle ball) over a net. Pickleball games can be played at any and all energy levels (slow and comfortable, mid-energy level and/or fast paced). The popularity of this sport continues to inspire all age groups and it's a great way to get out, exercise, enjoy the fall weather and fellowship!

Wear comfortable clothes, tennis shoes and possibly a hat. We'll provide the paddles and balls - you bring your CHAIR, WATER, energy, enthusiasm!! We have enough paddles for eight people to play at once (which is typically 2 courts).

Please RSVP here on Meet-Up. or with Cathy to let her know how many to anticipate.

And if the weather forecast predicts rain, snow, or extreme cold temperatures, please call or text Cathy to see if we'll be playing.

See you on the court!

Hike at Red Rocks Open Space - 10:00 am

Red Rock Canyon Open Space
3550 W High St, Colorado Springs

Red Rock Canyon Open Space is located off US-24 between Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs. There are a lot of trails along the canyons and ridges of Red Rock which provide great views of Garden of the Gods to the north and the city of Colorado Springs in general. This is a popular hiking spot. The area slopes up away from the highway so typically you will hike up into the canyon first and then come down.

https://www.alltrails.com/parks/us/colorado/red-rock-canyon-open-space

Let's meet at the new west end parking lot off US-24 for a 3.8 mile easy yet beautiful hike. Take US-24 west from Colorado Springs then turn left on Ridge Rd. Bring your hiking boots, sunscreen, a snack and plenty of water. Hiking poles are optional.

Call or text Marla for additional information and to give her an idea how many people to expect.

If snow is expected, please text Marla and see if we will be hiking.

Walk at Chapel Hills Mall (indoors) 5:30 pm

Chapel Hills Mall
1710 Briargate Blvd, Colorado Springs

Due to the colder weather, we are moving our walks indoors. We will meet in front of Dick's Sporting Goods inside on the lower level.

We will walk for about an hour rotating the floors while enjoying each other's company and the warmth of the building.

It is recommended that you bring water because drinking fountains are still blocked off.

After the walk, those that would like to can join at the food court for a bite to eat and/or further fellowship before the mall closes at 7 pm.

Please RSVP on Meet-Up so Cindi knows how many to expect or give her a call.
