Directions: Take Hwy 24 to Lake George, go another .75 miles on Highway 24, turn right on CR 77, take this 12 miles. When you get close to the town of Tarryall, CO there is a small Historic white school house on the right , just before that school house there is a road labeled CR 31, turn left. (If you are at the school house turn around, a couple of hundred feet back is CR 31) Once on CR 31 the road curves to the left, go past NF 233, you will see 3-4 mailboxes on the right side of the road, take the next right on to NF 231, at the next split in the road (maybe 3-4 blocks worth), make a right.

We will be on one of those sites up that road. We would like to know when you plan on coming so we can look for you. Raspberry Mountain Hike 8:00 AM

Safeway
3275 W Colorado Ave, Colorado Springs

Raspberry Mountain Hike
Saturday, July 17, 2021 @ 8:00 am
Carpool Information: Meet at Safeway, Southeast Corner of the Parking Lot
3275 W Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs
(32nd Street & Colorado)

If you want to meet us at the trailhead, below are the directions:
Take US24 west and turn left at the traffic light in Divide. Drive about 4 miles south. Right after you pass the entrance to Mueller State park turn left to CR-62. Drive 2.5 miles on the dirt road and the trailhead parking will be on your left.

Information about the hike: Raspberry Mountain rises south of the town of Divide facing the northwest slope of Pikes Peak. It's an easy to moderate hike that offers outstanding views in all directions.

The trailhead for this hike had been moved in 2016 due to property concerns further down the road and the route now follows the Ring The Peak Trail for the first mile and half. After crossing the creek at the parking lot, you will quickly gain elevation via a few switchbacks. The trail goes straight north through a pleasant pine forest. After you cross another small creek, turn right on the forest road. You will pass through a small open meadow and after a small climb you will reach a point where you leave the Ring The Peak Trail. The spot is marked by several wooden posts in the ground but can be easy to miss. From now on it's less than a mile uphill to the summit, with a short descent into a saddle before the final push.

At the top keep left and find the best way up those huge boulders. Enjoy 360 degree views that include Sawatch Range, Sangre De Cristo Mountains, Pikes Peak and Catamount Reservoirs.

Hiking boots and poles are recommended. Be sure to bring plenty of water and something to snack on.

The Crags Hike - 8:00 am

Safeway
3275 W Colorado Ave, Colorado Springs

The Crags are rock formations located south of Divide, facing the northwest slope of Pikes Peak. This is a beautiful and popular 5.1 mile hike (round trip)! Be sure to wear a good pair of hiking boots and bring your hiking poles (we have extras if needed).

We will start our hike at the new trailhead working our way east through several steep switchbacks. Soon we will reach the sign for trail #664A pointing to the right. This particular trail goes up to Pikes Peak via Devil's Playground. We want to stay to the left, following trail #664. Shortly after staying to the left, the trail enters a meadow with numerous interesting rock formations. The trail at this point is pretty level and it's an easy walk through this incredible area. The final push is in the forest again, climbing until you reach the top of the Crags. Enjoy outstanding views of Pikes Peak and the mountains to the north and west.

Because this is a very popular hiking trail, it's best if we carpool as the trailhead parking lot can fill up quickly. We'll meet at the Safeway parking lot near 32nd St. and Colorado at 7:00 am. Address: Safeway, 3275 W Colorado Ave, CS. We'll be carpooling from the Southeast corner of the parking lot.

Make sure you bring a light jacket and bring plenty of water and snacks. You'll want to linger awhile at the top and enjoy the view!!

If you prefer to drive to The Crags yourself, directions are as follows:
Take US-24 west and turn left at the traffic light in Divide. Drive south on US-67 for about 4 miles. Turn left to CR-62 right after you pass the entrance to Mueller State park on the right. Drive 3 miles on the dirt road and you will see the new trailhead parking lot on the right side. Crags campground located 1/4 of a mile further down the road is no longer used as the official trailhead.

PICKLEBALL AT PORTAL PARK!! 9:00 AM

Portal Park
3535 N Hancock Ave, Colorado Springs

Join us at Portal Park for Pickleball! New time is 9:00 AM!

Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis. The game is played on a smaller tennis court and has been referred to as "mini-tennis".

Two or four players use solid paddles to hit a perforated polymer ball (a little larger than a whiffle ball) over a net. Pickleball games can be played at any and all energy levels (slow and comfortable, mid-energy level and/or fast paced). The popularity of this sport continues to inspire all age groups and it's a great way to get out, exercise, enjoy the fall weather and fellowship!

Wear comfortable clothes, tennis shoes and possibly a hat. We'll provide the paddles and balls - you bring your CHAIR, WATER, energy, enthusiasm!! We have enough paddles for eight people to play at once (which is typically 2 courts).

Please RSVP here on Meet-Up. or with Scott to let him know how many to anticipate.

And if the weather forecast predicts rain, snow, or extreme cold temperatures, please call or text Scott to see if we'll be playing.

See you on the court!
