Description of Stage 1 and Stage 2 Fire Bans
This is a National Forest camping event. Cost: Free. We do have portable flush toilets with shelter for the women. There is no water, so bring water. There is limited or no phone coverage up there, so if you have questions don’t wait to the last minute to contact Doug. Join us any days or evening through this time period. Doug will have his trailer so we have some modern conveniences. There are some people wanting to carpool and we have an extra tent for those that don’t have a tent.
Directions: Take Hwy 24 to Lake George, go another .75 miles on Highway 24, turn right on CR 77, take this 12 miles. When you get close to the town of Tarryall, CO there is a small Historic white school house on the right , just before that school house there is a road labeled CR 31, turn left. (If you are at the school house turn around, a couple of hundred feet back is CR 31) Once on CR 31 the road curves to the left, go past NF 233, you will see 3-4 mailboxes on the right side of the road, take the next right on to NF 231, at the next split in the road (maybe 3-4 blocks worth), make a right. We will be on one of those sites up that road. We would like to know when you plan on coming so we can look for you.
Some will hike near Spruce Grove Campgrounds ( great river views and rock scapes) others may be tubing (bring a tube) near Happy Meadows Campground. Others may just decided to rest and enjoy the outdoors at our camping site.
Doug typically goes up two days earlier if you can get off during the week. Let him know if that interests you.
